Real Faith, Real Love

Jesus replied, This is the work (service) that God asks of you: that you believe in the One Whom He has sent [that you cleave to, trust, rely on, and have faith in His Messenger]. (‭John‬ ‭6‬:‭29‬ AMP)

That is real salvation – to cleave to, trust, rely on and have faith in Jesus. That is the walk of faith – throwing everything else behind and clinging on to Him. So many say they believe, but their words are just a resounding gong – empty, and utterly meaningless. Let us not proclaim faith with our lips, yet have our hearts and lives remain so far away. It’s not just about believing. It’s about making Him our very lives.

Realness

He wants our realness more than He wants our pretend goodness. We can fool everybody around us with masks, but we can’t fool Him. He sees through it all, and all He does is bid us to come – real, raw and unashamed.

Spiritual makeup never did anyone any good. Pretense and hypocrisy never led anyone closer into a genuine walk with Christ. It is better to come with our broken pieces and flaws instead of trying to pretend they do not exist. Because they do. We are but human and weak flesh.

And that’s okay.

You Are My Choice

Love for God is not measured by once-in-a-while hype and heightened emotions that fade as quickly as they come. Instead, it is the steady flame of the heart that chooses Him, day after day, month after month, year after year, decade after decade; even when it is hard, even when troubles overwhelm, even when the mundane suffocates. Real love does not burn out, instead it burns steadily right until the day we see Him face to face.

Let me be faithful to the end. Let me love You, mountain high or valley low. In the passion of my youth, I choose You, and in my steady old age, let me still be Yours. You are my choice, and You are my reward.

Unanswered Prayers

Looking back, I am so grateful God never answered some of the things I prayed the hardest for. We always think we know what is good for ourselves, but truth be told, we really don’t. We think we know what we want, but what we want could actually turn out to be completely terrible for us. Some of my greatest disappointments and unanswered prayers have turned out to be the most amazing protection I’ve ever received. I shudder to think of what would have become of my life if He had given me the things I wanted when I so foolishly wanted them. He protects me, He blesses me, and He redirects me, even when I cannot see or understand it at the time. I am so glad He knows better than me.

It’s the sweetest thing to trust Him.

Real Love

So many don’t know their worth. They accept “love” that isn’t love at all. Emotional blackmail. Emotional abuse. Physical abuse. Cheating. Lying. Being treated like an option. Being chucked aside. Being trampled on. Being used for sex and lustful gratification. They accept it all because they don’t know that they deserve better.

But the one who realizes their worth will not stand for any of that. The one who realizes that they deserve better will not accept a lesser “love”, but will dare to receive real love. Real love that honors, respects, protects, treasures, pursues, frees and heals.

We accept the love we think we deserve. Do you know your worth? Stop settling. You are worthy of real love.

I Love Your Judgements

Truth is cast down
Justice is perishing
The widow is abused
The orphan is abandoned
Do you think that God won’t see?
When the needy are exploited and no one cares for the voiceless?
The world’s leaders have turned to corruption
Each one ensnared by consumption of another man’s labor

But there’s a Man who’s seated on the throne
And He’s coming back to bring forth justice

He’s stirring up His church and working through His saints
But this is not the end there will be a day
With the burning wrath of fire in His heart
Our God shall come and not be silent
The Lord has seen
He will repay
He will arise on a set day
All who call on His name, in turn He will save

How will the nations learn Your righteousness unless You bring Your judgements to the earth?

King Jesus, set the captives free.

“Listen to me, my people; hear me, my nation: Instruction will go out from me; my justice will become a light to the nations. My righteousness draws near speedily, my salvation is on the way, and my arm will bring justice to the nations. The islands will look to me and wait in hope for my arm.” (Isaiah 51:4-5 NIV)

Many accuse Him of being silent, but He is not deaf. There is an appointed end to suffering, and swiftly shall it come.

On Questions

“Here, where I am surrounded by an enormous landscape, which the winds move across as they come from the seas, here I feel that there is no one anywhere who can answer for you those questions and feelings which, in their depths, have a life of their own; for even the most articulate people are unable to help, since what words point to is so very delicate, is almost unsayable.

I beg you, to have patience with everything unresolved in your heart and to try to love the questions themselves as if they were locked rooms or books written in a very foreign language. Don’t search for the answers, which could not be given to you now, because you would not be able to live them. And the point is to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps then, someday far in the future, you will gradually, without even noticing it, live your way into the answer.”

– Rainer Maria Rilke, Letters to a Young Poet.
