Worth the Wait

I’ve never been good at waiting. When I know something, I want it. When I see treasure of great worth and beauty (even more so, treasure I know is promised for me!) everything in me yearns to the point of tears. There have been times when I feel like I will break from longing.

The heartache of waiting is real. But so is the beauty of hope. These two emotions mingle together into a strange unsettling sigh.

But He is worth it. He is worth the heartache of waiting. He is worth the tears and the longing. Every twist of my heart brings me closer to a life lived beside the One I love.

“…not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. For those who say such things declare plainly that they seek a homeland.. they desire a better, that is, a heavenly country. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11:13-14, 16‬ ‭

And This Is Eternal Life

Every time I’m in a congregation and we stand as one to worship Jesus together, my heart is so moved. What will it be like on that day when we stand on that sea of glass gazing upon the Lamb of God with unveiled eyes? We will see Him as He is and we will behold the pure unadulterated glory shining from His beautiful face. Can you imagine the love that will swell up in our hearts? The worship that will pour forth from our lips?

He is worthy and He is beautiful – I know that even now though I see through a dim glass. My heart bursts and overflows with worship, though I am separated from Him by the veil of eternity. What will happen when the curtain of time is finally removed?

That is eternal life! That we may know Him, behold Him, love Him and be with Him forevermore. It is all I am longing for here on this side of time. And here in the waiting, as I ache and yearn for His returning, let me be found standing amongst the congregation of the righteous, with heaven’s praises always on my lips.

Love Wins

In the midst of the darkest and most confused hour in human history, may the Lord find a remnant faithful unto Him. As His eyes search to and fro throughout the earth, may He find an entire generation given over to Him, no matter the cost. May He find consecrated ones standing for Jesus, standing for truth, standing for love. Real love – the kind that goes hand in hand with truth, righteousness and saving grace – not the kind that celebrates perversion, compromise, and political correctness.

When the whole world rises up to shake their fists at You, let the wise be found on Your side. When the nations rage against You, let the humble be found hidden under the shelter of Your wings. When the masses gather to hate Your ways and curse Your name, let the faithful be found loving and exalting Your name.

Strengthen Your saints Lord! Keep us standing to the end. When You return, You will find faith on this earth.

Hope Of Creation

My heart breaks when I look at the chaos and the confusion our world is in today. How in need we are of God. Man cannot fix man. Man cannot help man. There is a rise of blatant injustice and an increasing hatred for what is pure, noble and true. There is brokenness everywhere. There is no political solution we can come up with on our own to fix a broken and dying world. How in need we are for the return of Jesus. Our world is spinning out of control, and we can never fix it on our own because the root of most of what is going on today is the darkness of the human heart. How in need we are of the return of Jesus to make the wrong things right. We need His government and His rule because He alone is the perfect King. His judgements alone are true, perfect and good.

Jesus come back. Come back and help the widow, the orphan… the little girl who is being raped every day by man after man after man. Come back and help the needy, the oppressed and the defenseless. Come back and set the captives free. Come back and give us beauty for our ashes. Come back Lord. Come back with Your justice and Your righteousness. Come back with Your perfect judgements. We need You. Mankind needs You. We are dead and we are lost without You.

“I will not leave you orphans, I will come to you.” (John 14:18)

This is Your promise. Do not leave us as orphans Jesus. Come to us. You are our only hope.

It Is Not Foolishness

And when Jesus was in Bethany at the house of Simon the leper, a woman came to Him having an alabaster flask of very costly fragrant oil, and she poured it on His head as He sat at the table. But when His disciples saw it, they were indignant, saying, “Why this waste? For this fragrant oil might have been sold for much and given to the poor.” But when Jesus was aware of it, He said to them, “Why do you trouble the woman? For she has done a good work for Me. (Matthew 26:6-10 NKJV)

Extravagant devotion is offensive, and it often provokes a reaction in those who see it.

“What a waste!”
“Do something more useful with your life.”
“Foolish girl.”
“Be more practical.”

Basically, “Love God, but not too much.”

But if there is one thing I know, the life poured out in love at His feet is not a wasted life. If the perfume of my life and the sacrifices of my broken heart moves Jesus, then it is not foolishness. Stupid it may seem in the eyes of man, impractical it may seem, but He calls it beautiful.

Just like Mary, I will live my life to lavish my love on Him. Whatever it looks like, whatever costly decisions it will lead me to make, I want my life to be one that is completely broken in love at His feet.

Extravagant Devotion

We are living in unusual hours where God is raising up a people of extravagant devotion to partner with Him to do the extraordinary acts. As He promised, there is a time coming where He will pour out His spirit in such a way that will far surpass the book of Acts. No eye has seen and no mind has dreamed of the kind of works He is about to do through His people in the last days.

But if our hearts are not ready, God will hold back. This is His kindness, because if we are not first established in love, our hearts will move the moment signs and wonders come. If our reward is not Jesus alone, our eyes will be taken off Him and focused onto ourselves the moment He allows great works to flow through our lives. Our reward has to be found in living before His eyes alone. Our success has to come not from ministry, nor signs and wonders, but in loving Him and being loved by Him.

We cannot do extravagant acts until we have extravagant devotion. Then and only then, our hearts will not move. Miracles, signs and wonders are good things – but they are simply a sideshow. Above all, He desires hearts that burn before Him.

So Lord, do not promote us until our hearts are ready. Hide us in Your presence, and root us deep in the soil of Your love. Do not send us out until You alone have become our One Thing.

You Will Have Your Bride

We must understand that He wants us so much more than we will ever want Him. What we feel for Him is a mere flicker of a flame compared to how His heart burns for us. His zeal for us is far more consuming than ours will ever be for Him, yes, even during the heights of passion when we are declaring our vows with tears streaming down our faces.

Know that His faithfulness towards us is far greater than our faithfulness towards Him. Our grip is feeble, but His is not. We are so weak, but He is strong, and He is able to keep us.

All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out. This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day. (John 6:37, 39 NKJV)

He wants us. He has been waiting for His Bride since eternity’s past, and He WILL have what He has set out to possess. The fiery promise He has made to us is that He will be faithful to complete the good work He started.

If we will not harden our hearts towards Him, He will keep us to the end. In that day we will stand before Him, and it will be the gladness of His heart. That glorious day is everything He has desired for with an all consuming jealousy, everything all of heaven has been holding its breath for, and everything the entire creation has been groaning for.

Jesus will have His Bride.
