And This Is Eternal Life

Every time I’m in a congregation and we stand as one to worship Jesus together, my heart is so moved. What will it be like on that day when we stand on that sea of glass gazing upon the Lamb of God with unveiled eyes? We will see Him as He is and we will behold the pure unadulterated glory shining from His beautiful face. Can you imagine the love that will swell up in our hearts? The worship that will pour forth from our lips?

He is worthy and He is beautiful – I know that even now though I see through a dim glass. My heart bursts and overflows with worship, though I am separated from Him by the veil of eternity. What will happen when the curtain of time is finally removed?

That is eternal life! That we may know Him, behold Him, love Him and be with Him forevermore. It is all I am longing for here on this side of time. And here in the waiting, as I ache and yearn for His returning, let me be found standing amongst the congregation of the righteous, with heaven’s praises always on my lips.

The Beatitudes

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, For they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek, For they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled. Blessed are the merciful, For they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. “Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. (‭Matthew‬ ‭5‬:‭3-11‬ NKJV)

I am doing a one year Bible reading plan and I came across an old familiar passage. The Beatitudes. Only this time, I realized the utter richness and complexity of His words. I am so mind blown by this one passage! It will take an entire lifetime to explore this one single passage and what it looks like lived out in ordinary life.

What does it mean to be poor in spirit?
What does it mean to mourn?
What does it mean to be meek?
What does it mean to hunger and thirst for righteousness?
What does it mean to be merciful?
What does it mean to be pure in heart?
What does it mean to be a peacemaker?
What does it mean to be persecuted for righteousness’ sake?

…… what does it mean to be blessed?

I have barely scratched the surface when it comes to understanding The Beatitudes. I am even further from walking it out in my own life. But I want to understand His ways so much! I want my life to count for something in His eyes. I don’t want to waste my days, I want to live as one blessed in His sight.

Teach Me How To Bear Good Fruit

Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance.. And even now the ax is laid to the root of the trees. Therefore every tree which does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. (‭Matthew‬ ‭3‬:‭8, 10‬ NKJV)

True repentance always results in good fruits. There is no way around it. Bearing good fruits does not mean salvation by works, rather, it is a by-product of salvation and shows evidence of it. A life that shows zero evidence of transformation is probably a life that has not repented and is therefore a life that is not saved.

His words are very simple, and we must learn to take them at face value. He means what He says and He says what He means. Error is trying to twist His words into something we are comfortable with. Many of the things He says are extremely offensive, challenging passive mindsets to the core. But He is God, and we are man. So either we yield to His truth, or we fall into deception by coming up with our own versions of falsehood and mistruths. There really is no gray area. We either believe His words and follow them, or we reject them completely.

Let us not try to fool ourselves into thinking there is any middle ground. There isn’t.

Eternity, Musings

These are a few shots that were taken when I went to the beach today. Most of it are only a few minutes apart. They are completely unedited and unfiltered – taken only with an iPhone camera. The skies were so beautiful, they changed from cotton candy pink and blue one moment to fiery red the next. My pictures don’t do any justice, they come nowhere near the actual beauty of what I saw.

The beauty of it all is that it’s so unnecessary. He is so excessive when it comes to goodness. None of it is necessary at all, yet He still chooses to lavish it on us – simply because.

Doesn’t this say so much about the nature of His heart? He is not a God who holds back. Not in the skies, not in our lives. He is explosive, overwhelming, excessive, bursting and overflowing.

If this is fallen earth, I cannot imagine what heaven will be like…

He leaves me breathless!
